Mangkunegaran Palace

Puro Mangkunegaran began constructed by Mangkunegoro II at the end of century 18 and completed at 1866. although have several times renovate, the Puro Mangkunegaran still show the originality design. This building show the distinctive of building jawa which the form is joglo, this building use teakwood.

Puro Mangkunegaran consist of two main parts, Pendopo and Dalem.

Pendopo is a joglo style Architecture with 4 ” Saka Guru” ( Main Pillars) what the height 10.5 M. The Roof that the height 16.7 M, made from hundreds of sirap.The floor of pendopo have length 62.5 M and width 51.6 M. Pendopo used to hold the reception, and performance of traditional javanese dance.

In the southwest side there is a set named gamelan ” Kyai Kanyut Mesem”. This Gamelan played every wedenesday to accompany the traditional dance rehearsals.

The other part is dalem, generally, dalem is the main part of javanese home. Dalem have limasan architecture with eight saka guru. Dalem used for traditional ceremony, like family wedding, these ceremony held in front of krobongan (petanen).

In the Pringgitan room, part of Dalem, we can see some painting of Basuki Abdulah, famous painter from solo. Pringgitan room also used for wayang kulit performance.

In the Puro Mangkunegaran, there is museum which kept high valuable relict like : Ornament from pure gold to dance, mask from various area in Indonesia, and many more.
