Sundak Beach

Sundak Beach is a beautiful small beach with white sand that located in the district of Gunung Kidul Jogjakarta.Sundak beach is one small beach in south java lined beach.There is a unique story behind Sundak Beach name.
Sundak is acronyme of ‘asu’(dog) and ‘landak’(sea urchin).Sundak name came from a fight betwen dog and sea urchin long time ago.there was a dog that feel hungry.and then it’s find a sea urchin.The dog wants to ate the sea urchin , but the sea urchin fought the dog.Finally the dog win and eat half of the sea urchin body.The dog owner know that and came to the cave where the dog fought the sea urchin and found a clean water source that become a clean water for the villager .That’s why this beach called sundak(asu landak or dog sea urchin)

At sundak beach thre is a unique fenomena at rainy season at the eastern of the beach there is water flowing toward to the ocean an it’s look like a river and it’s cut the sand.in the summer the river is gone and water bring back sand that drown the river and it’s called ‘wedibedah’.

For cliff climber Sundak have 250 routes for cliff climbing.
