Waterfall Matayangu
Most of the tourists who come to this national park is generally associated with leisure travel remains of cultural tourism on the island of Sumba.
Location was interesting to visit:
Matayangu and Lapopu. The waterfall is located in the Village Waimanu and Katikutana.
Some cultural attractions on the island of Sumba, among others:
Waikabubak adjacent to National Park-Land Daru Manupeu encountered many ancient tombs carved. Ancient tombs and a symbol of social status and public health (overdo Tana, Watu and Bulu Peka Karagata Mila).
Festival, is the attraction of the ritual is very interesting and exciting, because it seemed to some people rode decorated colorful, attacked each other to knock each other with wooden lances. Attractions was held in February in Lamboya and Kodi, the month of March in Gaura and Wanukaka.
Season best visit: March to June and October to December each year.
How to reach locations: Kupang-Waingapu with planes about an hour, then from Waingapu-Lewa-Waikabubak by road four-wheel drive for about two hours, which continued into the national park location (Langgaliru Village, Countryside Village Katiku Loku and Watumbelar ).
National Park-Land Manupeu Daru is representative of spring forest-lowland peluruh remaining in Sumba. Most of the forest area in the national park of steep cliffs, which emerged from the sea surface to a height of 600 meters.
National Park-Land Manupeu Daru has high biodiversity value of about 118 species of plants including suren (Toona stireni), taduk (Sterculia foetida), Kesambi (Schleichera oleosa), Pulai (Alstonia scholaris), tamarind (Tamarindus indica), walnut (Aleurites moluccana), forest jambu (Syzygium sp.), mountain pine (Casuarina sp.), and lantana (Lantana camara).
Existing wildlife in this national park as many as 87 species of birds including 7 endemic species of Sumba island cempaka cockatoos (Cacatua sulphurea citrinocristata), rising Sumba (Rhyticeros everetti), pigeon Sumba (teysmannii Treron), Sumba flycatcher (Ficedula harterti), orioles – sungu Sumba (Coracina dohertyi), and honey Sumba (Nectarinia buettikoferi). Sumba Hornbill birds and cockatoos cempaka is the most rare birds and endangered species, especially on the island of Sumba.
National Park-Land Manupeu Daru has 57 species of butterflies, including seven endemic to the island of Sumba Papilio neumoegenii, Ideopsis oberthurii, Delias fasciata, Junonia adulatrix, Athyma karita, Sumalia chilo, and Elimnia amoena.
Daru Manupeu-Land recently designated as National Park, so the facilities for visitors is still very limited. The facilities available in the form of homestay is managed by the communities surrounding national parks.
